Numbers 5

Some claim the Bible prescribes abortion in Numbers 5, but the text does not mention pregnancy.

January

Sanctity of Human Life Month

Roe v Wade was decided January 22, 1973.

In 1984, Ronald Reagan was the first President to declare a Sunday to be Sanctity of Life Day. Today, Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is usually the same weekend as Martin Luther King Jr Day.

But you can preach on the sanctity of life any Sunday.

Or you can connect racial inequalities with the statistics on abortion rates and abortion marketing targeting African Americans and Latinos.

February

Valentine's Day

The Roman god Cupid is the Greek god Eros. Eros is one of the Greek words translated to English as love, meaning sexual love. Eros is also the base of the English word erotic (and other simliar English words).

We cannot talk about abortion without talking sex,

and we cannot talk about sex without talking about abortion.

February is an opportunity to study what the New Testament has to say about sexual immorality, which includes sex before marriage.

April

Abortion Recovery Awareness Month

In addition to Resurrection Sunday, talking about Abortion Recovery Awareness Month is an opportunity to teach the sacrifice Christ made for our sins.

For an Old Testament connection, consider David and Bathsheba, which is not just a story about adultery but also committing murder to cover up unexpected pregnancy.

In addition, the story of David and Nathan provides an example of someone not recognizing his sin (as is the case with most post-abortive women and men). King David's Psalm 32 shows the consequences of his "choice" and Psalm 51 was his prayer of confession.

Just like there are alcohol and drug recovery programs, there are also abortion recovery programs for women and men.

June

Celebrate Life Month

The Dobbs v Jackson case overturned Roe v Wade on
June 24, 2022.

June is an opportunity to study how
the Bible shows that God values the pre-born.

September

The National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children

is the 2nd Saturday of September.

The Day of Remembrance provides opportunity to humanize aborted babies and recognize the need for women and men to grieve the loss of their children and grandchildren.

This is an opportunity to share abortion recovery programs for women and men.

December

The Christmas story is an opportunity to point out that pre-born John the Baptist leaped in Elizabeth's womb in reaction to Mary and pre-born Jesus. The Greek word brephos was used by Luke for both pre-born and born. (See Best Pro-Life Bible Verses.)

And we know that Mary was poor and that she survived societal judgment, which are reasons women choose abortion today.
